Yoga Flow on the “Dark Side of the Moon”
(taught every year near Halloween!)
Get ready for Halloween with an energetic, flowing yoga practice choreographed to Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon. Costumes are encouraged, but of course, not required. The practice is best for anyone comfortable in a Flow Yoga class, and a few sweet treats (vegan and gluten free) will be provided after class – but only if you say Trick or Treat!

Nutcracker Flow Yoga
(taught every December!)
Release your inner ballerina as we practice to the classic holiday music of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite! The workshop will be a moderately-paced yoga practice, choreographed to fit beautifully to our musical score and suitable for all students comfortable in a Flow Yoga class. Relive childhood moments onstage or in the ballet audience, or just come enjoy a new flowing yoga experience. No dance experience or ability is needed; tutus and other Nutcracker-inspired costumes are highly encouraged!

Rock Your Vinyasa: The Beatles!
End your work week with an energetic, flowing yoga practice choreographed to the best hits of The Beatles! This practice is more than just adding music to a flow class; the series of postures is designed to perfectly fit with and complement the music. Let your yoga practice help you experience the music in a new way!

Rock Your Vinyasa: Michael Jackson! 
End your work week with a flowing yoga practice choreographed to some of Michael Jackson’s greatest hits. This practice is more than just adding music to a flow class; the series of postures is designed to perfectly fit with and complement the music. Let this fun music help you experience your yoga practice in a new way! (MJ inspired clothing is highly encouraged, but of course, is not required.)

Rock Your Vinyasa: Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child
Girls “Run the World” and this dynamic Friday night yoga practice! End the week with a spirited flow yoga practice choreographed to the greatest hits of Destiny’s Child and Beyoncé. Feel free to sing along or skip a chaturanga or two for a little dance break if the mood strikes you. Let the music of these strong women inspire your practice!

Dance Yoga
Are you a dancer who tried yoga but found it moved too slowly? Or are you a yogi who has always had a bit of interest in dance? Either way, this is the class for you! Experience a mix of Vinyasa yoga and Horton modern dance technique, presented in a way accessible to adults of all levels. Experience in yoga or dance is helpful, but not required. Ages 16 and up. (No yoga mat needed; be prepared to move barefoot.)

Arm Balancing 101
Arm balances are playful ways to leave your mat during your practice! Change your perspective during this workshop and discover that arm balances are more about core strength and leverage than upper body strength. Whether you are new to arm balances or already incorporate them into your practice, we will explore techniques and tricks to help you confidently hover off the ground in crow/crane, 8-angle pose, flying pigeon, and a variety of other balances.
 As a former gymnast, I was instantly drawn to arm balances as a way to bring more acrobatic play into my yoga practice, and I love showing others ways to overcome the “I could never do that” mindset that can often accompany beginning arm-balancers to their mats!

Vegan1Day Yoga Mala
Vegan1Day is an international challenge for everyone to adopt a vegan diet for at least one day of the the year. In support of this challenge, Vegan1Day founder John Merryfield and a group of extreme stand up paddlers paddled for a full 24 hours around the perimeter of Lake Tahoe, undertaking this feat of athletic endurance to bring attention to the plight of factory farm animals while extolling the excellent health benefits of eating a plant-based diet and living a vegan lifestyle. Similar events of athletic prowess were performed throughout the country on August 10, 2014. Our yogic contribution to this cause was to perform 108 sun salutations as others were paddling, biking, and running.

Throughout the workshop, participants are encouraged to take modifications and rest as needed; the option to sit with the breath or chant the sound of Om in place of the sun salutations is always available. We complete the experience with a long savasana, followed by healthy vegan snacks! Participants also leave this workshop with recipes for some great tasting vegan meals and tips on making the transition to a vegan lifestyle (for just 1 day out of the year, 1 day a month, 1 day a week or everyday). This practice is open to all dietary persuasions, whether you are a carnivore or a cheese lover.
